The 4th Annual Dallas Piehole Project Returns in 2023

Dallas’ most delicious tradition, the Piehole Project, is back for its fourth year, running from October 19-29, 2023. This “virtual pie auction” showcases pies from 27 of Dallas’ top chefs, all crafted with a “Superheroes” theme to support continuing education in the restaurant and hospitality industries. Whether you’re craving something classic or daring, there’s a pie for everyone—and all proceeds go toward culinary scholarships.

Superhero-Inspired Pies

Each chef has infused creativity and bold flavors into their pies to match this year’s superhero theme. From the savory to the sweet, you won’t find ordinary pie flavors here. Highlights include Chef Steve Deshazo’s Chocolate Stout Beef Pie, Chef Nikky Phinyawatana’s Shrimp Panang Pie, and Chef John Tesar’s bold and luxurious Caviar Pie.

For plant-based pie lovers, Chef Miriam Jimenez created the Mighty Meatless Crusader with sweet plantain, Impossible meat, and vegan chorizo. If you prefer something on the sweeter side, Chef Katherine Clapner from Dude Sweet Chocolate brings a decadent My Milkshake Is Better Than Yours pie, made with chocolate custard and hazelnut crunch.

A Mission to Support Culinary Education

This year, the Piehole Project is aiming to raise $20,000, with all funds going toward grants that help foster career growth within the restaurant and hospitality sectors. Many participating chefs have benefitted from similar scholarships earlier in their careers, inspiring them to give back and help the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals thrive.

How to Participate

Bidding is now live! If you’re interested in snagging one of these extraordinary pies, you can participate in the virtual auction from October 19-29. The auction is the perfect way to indulge in incredible culinary creations while making a difference.

After the auction ends, pies will be available for pickup on November 20-21 at the Dallas College Culinary, Pastry, and Hospitality Center. For those within a 35-mile radius, delivery is available for an additional $30 fee.
